The College of Administration and Economics holds a workshop on “The One-Minute Manager and Leader”

The Department of Public Administration at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Diyala, held a workshop titled “The One-Minute Manager and Leader,” presented by Professor Dr. Haider Shaker Nouri.
The workshop aimed to develop the skills of staff members and section managers—as well as postgraduate students—by introducing them to a leadership philosophy that emphasizes the rapid accomplishment of tasks and objectives (focusing on work) through the empowerment of employees (focusing on people). In essence, a “one-minute leader” is someone who achieves significant, high-quality results in a short amount of time. This leadership style is defined by three key principles: “One-Minute Goals,” “One-Minute Praisings,” and “One-Minute Reprimands.”
The workshop recommended that section managers adopt these leadership principles, given their substantial impact on the swift completion of tasks and goals. By applying these methods, managers can effectively lead both themselves and their subordinates, ultimately benefiting the individuals involved and the organization as a whole.
The workshop contributed to several of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Most notably, it addressed Goal 4 (Quality Education) by fostering leadership and management skills and promoting continuous learning; Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by enhancing leadership and management capabilities, improving institutional performance, and boosting productivity in the workplace; and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) by promoting effective management and building efficient, accountable institutions.
