The College of Administration and Economics holds a panel discussion on “Methodological and Formal Guidelines According to the Manual for Theses and Dissertations.”
The Department of Economics, in collaboration with the Postgraduate Studies Division and the Continuing Education Division, held a seminar titled “Methodological and Formal Guidelines According to the Manual for Theses and Dissertations.” The session was presented by Professor Dr. Alia Hussein Khalaf, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs.
As part of an ongoing effort to enhance academic rigor and elevate the quality of research and postgraduate studies in accordance with established academic standards, this discussion seminar was organized to standardize academic writing practices among postgraduate students. It aimed to foster a precise understanding of the guidelines set forth in the university’s new 2026 handbook, ensuring accuracy in the formatting, methodological organization, and structural presentation of scientific research.
The seminar covered four key areas. The first focused on the general structure and preliminary pages, outlining the systematic arrangement of theses and dissertations. The second addressed formal requirements and typographical formatting, specifically detailing guidelines for margin dimensions. The third explored the scientific methodology for research chapters, providing a comprehensive breakdown of the five-chapter structure (Introduction, Literature Review, Research Methodology, Results and Discussion, and Conclusions and Recommendations). This section emphasized the importance of critical analysis—rather than mere descriptive narration—within the literature review, and clarified the formal requirements for presenting figures and tables. The fourth area covered academic citation, references, and the final conclusions and recommendations.
